Our story, our journey
After many years of meticulously planning their restaurant while juggling dual jobs, Alberto and Santos embarked on a bold venture in 2014. With unwavering determination, they decided to sell their home and invest their earnings, along with their lifetime savings, to bring their dream to fruition. This marked a pivotal moment in their lives as they both quit their jobs and enlisted the help of Alberto’s mother, Doña Eva, to join their team, lending her culinary expertise to the kitchen.
Evolution
The doors of Sabor MX officially opened in February 2015, serving an array of delectable dishes that quickly won the hearts of many. As their business flourished, Alberto and Santos sought to continually innovate and cater to the evolving tastes of their patrons. In 2020, they reinvented their menu and embraced a new identity, changing their name to Sabor Cocina Latina, reflecting the broader culinary inspirations from Latin America.
New Era
Their journey did not stop there. In 2023, Sabor Cocina Latina moved to a new location in North Fresno, providing a fresh, modern take on dishes and cocktails from Central and South America. The new venue boasts a unique interior design and features a stunning mural hand-painted by a local artist, creating an inviting ambiance that complements the exquisite culinary experience.
Awards
In 2025, Sabor Cocina was nominated and won the Best of the Valley Award for Best Hospitality and People's Choice, presented by the Fresno Chapter of the California Restaurant Association.
